About us:
Clinic Director:
Neri Romero has been involved in working with individuals with autism for the last seven years. She has spent four years working as a classroom teacher in self-contained classrooms for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in elementary schools. She spent a year in a center school for ESE students as an autism site coach, where she worked with individuals with ASD from 11-23 years of age. After this experience, she decided that she needed to know more and began applying to Doctoral Programs in Education. She was accepted at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in the Fall of 2005. She spent two years at UNC researching interventions, becoming TEACCH trained, and volunteering as a swim coach for the Special Olympics. She finished coursework in the Spring of 2007 and decided to further her education by attending training in Relationship Development Intervention at the Connections Center in Houston. She is now an RDI Consultant in Training. In addition, she continues to work as a site coach at a middle school in Duval County while working on her dissertation.
